St. Georg - The Evangelical church and its special tower

Two documents dating back to the early 14th century mention a farm near the upper church "bi der oberun kilchun". At that time the church consisted of a small church room with a steeple.

A particularly striking feature of the church is the church tower, heightened in the 16th century, with an inscription around the parapet, a platform, and the open tower helmet with a spiral staircase inside the pyramid.

The name "Evangelical Church of St. Georg" also attracts attention.

You are standing right at the bottom of the church tower. Take a few steps back and see the tower with its stairs and inscription. For the citizens of old Denzlingen this was a familiar sight, for citizens of new Denzlingen always a reason to ask. In the middle of the 16th century the spire was completed in its present form. On the eastern side of the parapet we find the date of construction and the coat of arms of Hachberg. Year and the letters have to be read from the inside. Most recently the design as an open tower helmet, as well as the spiral staircase inside the pyramid was scientifically further researched. The inscription, the spiral staircase and the ring at the top of the tower allow a simplified theological interpretation: "With Mary you may reach heaven".
