Will Denzlingen be located
next to the sea in the future?

Our landscape with its hills, valleys and plains owes its origin to complex geological, geomorphological and climatic processes, which have been lasted for millions of years and still continue to work. Consider the environment with Black Forest, the Vosges and the Rhine. What would it look like here, if the level between the Black Forest and Vosges mountains was flooded and it would lead to a sea? This idea is not unlikely, learn why...

Will Denzlingen be located next to the sea in the future?

Do you think that continents could break apart?

Hot forces from the depths are forming the upper Rhine trench

You are standingat the edge of the upper Rhine valley. It is part of an active European fracture zone reaching from the Mediterranean up to Oslo. The collision of Africa and Eurasia, which took place around 100 million years ago in the Cretaceous period, formed the Alps. Other parts of Europe were affected by this collision as well, causing the movement of tectonic structures. Hot magma rose onto

the surface of the upper Rhine trench. This caused a stretching and arching up of the outer shell of solid rock. The Earth's crust could no longer withstand these stresses and broke up. In the top of the broken axle, the trench structure evolved gradually.
